Mold is naturally occurring and is present in almost all indoor and outdoor environments. In the presence of water or even high humidity, these naturally occurring mold spores can activate and begin to multiply. If you have had ever had a leaky roof, broken appliance or flooded basement that wasn’t properly mitigated, you may have the created the conditions for mold to thrive. With the addition of water, mold can begin to grow in 48-72 hours.

At WATER FIRE FIX, our skilled technicians employ a multistep testing and removal process that identifies the source of moisture and eliminates any mold or bacterial growth that may have occurred. Using a mix of on-site technology and laboratory clearance testing, you can be confident we have done the job right.

Our Mold Remediation Process includes the following steps:

Step 1 – Inspection

Using the best technology in the industry, our skilled technicians will complete a thorough walkthrough and inspection of the property. This will establish and document the source of moisture and the identify the affected areas. During this inspection, we will also assess the risk of contamination and microbial growth

Step 2 – Water Removal and Extraction

During this step, we will take all necessary precautions to protect the property that remains in place and prepare the space for drying. Only after the affected area has been dried and the source of moisture eliminated can the mold removal begin.

Step 3 – Containment and Air Quality

Once the location is dry but prior to the removal of contaminated materials, we will establish air quality controls via the use of HEPA filtration “air scrubbers” and establish a physical containment around the materials to be remediated. This safety precaution prevents the spread of hazardous contamination and ensures the health and safety of the inhabitants during and after the job.

Step 4 – Removal of Mold and Contaminated Materials

The removal process will depend largely on the amount of mold and the type of building materials affected. We use all natural, plant based antimicrobial disinfectants and cleaners to eliminate existing mold and prevent new growth in the future. Porous materials that cannot be cleaned like drywall or carpet pad may need to be removed and discarded.

Step 5 – Restoration and Final Cleaning

If contaminated building materials were removed, restoration would begin at this point. The most common items that may need to be replaced include paint, drywall, carpet and pad. We will also conduct a full cleaning of the affected and surrounding areas as well as conduct any necessary clearance testing for air and surface contamination.
